Riaan Rossouw came to America with a vision: to make wine. Equipped with the knowledge of his French ancestors and a youth spent in the vineyards of his hometown in South Africa, he learned the intricacies of Virginia’s viticulture at one of the region’s oldest wineries.
His handcrafted, artisanal vintages have captured the interest of locals while garnering praise from even the most curated palates.

Rossouw has hand-crafted this limited edition vintage in much the same way as it would have been done when Michie Tavern first began filling the cups of its guests. The labels were created to capture the essence of Michie Tavern’s golden age by Rossouw and his wife Rachel O’Neill.

My daughter and my two grandchildren visited the General Store yesterday and the restaurant , I wasn’t sure what to expect but I have to say the trip was amazing. We enjoyed ourselves so much. It was nice to meet the friendly staff, the food was the best I have tasted for a long time and the choices of merchandise was also the best. Thank you for a great experience. We are coming back soon not for the tour but to eat lunch and check out the stores again.

I love this General Store! The people are always so helpful. I make a point of coming here every time I come to Charlottesville to visit my family. I have also ordered items and had them shipped to friends. Great service!
