Michie Tavern is located less than one mile from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello on State Route 53, Monticello Mountain . Michie Tavern is easy to access from Route 29. We are one mile from Interstate 64 (Exit 121), and approximately 25 miles from Interstate 81.

From Richmond and Points East

Take Interstate 64 West to Exit 121 at Charlottesville. At the end of the exit ramp turn left onto Route 20 South. At the second stoplight, turn left onto Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway). Follow Route 53 East for approximately one mile, entrance to Michie Tavern is on the right immediately past the waterwheel.

From Waynesboro and Points West

Take Interstate 64 East to Charlottesville and get off at Exit 121A onto Va. Route 20 South (heading: Scottsville). At the second stoplight, turn left onto Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway). Follow Route 53 East for approximately one mile, entrance to Michie Tavern is on the right immediately past the waterwheel.

From Washington, D.C. and Points North

Take Interstate 66 West to 29 South at Gainesville. Follow 29 South into Charlottesville and look for the signs for the 250 West/29 South Bypass. Follow this bypass to Interstate 64 East (heading: Richmond). Take Interstate 64 East and get off at Exit 121A onto Va. Route 20 South (heading: Scottsville). At the second stoplight, turn left onto Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway). Follow Route 53 East for approximately one mile, entrance to Michie Tavern is on the right immediately past the waterwheel.

From Lynchburg and Points South
